Offshore Operational Drilling Engineer

Description:
Required to start in April/May for an 18 month contract rotating either on a 2/2 or 3/3 basis.
Job Responsibilities
- Preparation and review of offshore procedures
- QA checks on equipment being prepared for campaign as being fit for purpose
- Set up of offshore daily reporting systems
- Set up of offshore performance monitoring systems
- Maintaining existing action lists to ensure closeout of outstanding items
o Working with Drilling Supervisors and Drilling Contractor personnel, review of offshore procedures
o Maintaining action lists of outstanding issues requiring closure prior to acceptance of rig
o Implement offshore daily reporting systems
* Whilst offshore, responsibilities will include:
o Update and posting on a daily basis performance monitoring metrics.
o Lead an offshore After Action Review process coordinating reviews following jobs, upkeep of an action tracking list, close out of actions and ensuring that identified best practices are implemented.
o Take a lead role with the efficiency improvement of the rig operations gathering, suggesting and implementing initiatives.
o Observation of (particularly non standard) tasks to try to determine methods for reducing critical path activity time and for the movement of activities to non-critical path activities wherever possible.
o Implement offshore daily reporting systems.
o Ensure necessary information is sent from the rig to enable the onshore drilling engineer to complete necessary reporting.
o Secondary to the above items, perform wellsite drilling engineer tasks such as tally preparation, cementing calculations, and assistance with daily drilling reporting (if Drilling Supervisor unable due to operational constraints).
The following minimum experience is desirable:
* Bachelor of Engineering degree
* 5 years practical drilling rig experience

* Willingness to work odd shift patterns to ensure critical operations are observed and that After Action reviews are completed with crews following tasks
* Good computing skills, particularly excel
